Setting Up Your POP or IMAP Email Address in Microsoft Outlook 2007
Follow these steps to configure Microsoft Outlook 2007 to work with your email account. While this guide is tailored for Outlook 2007, the settings are similar for other versions of Microsoft Outlook.
Steps to Set Up Your Email Account in Microsoft Outlook:
Open Microsoft Outlook 2007:
- From the E-mail Accounts menu, select Tools, then Account Settings....
Add a New Email Account:
- In the E-mail Accounts wizard window, select Add a new e-mail account.
Choose Account Type:
- Select either POP3 or IMAP, and then click Next.
Manual Server Configuration:
- Choose Manual configure server settings, then click Next.
Internet E-mail Settings:
- Choose Internet E-mail to connect your POP3 or IMAP account, and then click Next.
Enter Account Information on the Internet E-mail Settings (POP3/IMAP) window:
- Your Name: Enter your first and last name.
- E-mail Address: Enter your full email address.
- User Name: Enter your full email address again.
- Password: Enter your email account password.
- Incoming mail server (POP3): Enter
POP, mail.yourdomainname.com
orIMAP, mail.yourdomainname.com
. - Outgoing mail server (SMTP): Enter
mail.yourdomainname.com
.
More Settings:
- Click More Settings.
Outgoing Server Configuration:
- On the Internet E-mail Settings window, go to the Outgoing Server tab.
- Select My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.
- Select Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
Advanced Settings:
- Go to the Advanced tab.
- Change the Incoming server (POP3) port to
110
(default). - Change the Outgoing server (SMTP) port to
587
. - Click OK.
Complete Setup:
- Click Next.
- Click Finish.
Your email account should now be set up in Microsoft Outlook 2007. You can now send and receive emails using your configured email account.
